Kristina Rhodes: Strengthening Brand Image on The Promise of a Wish

The right content can strengthen your brand image

We say it all the time: our customers are amazing. And it’s true. Not only are they a fine bunch of folks, they’re about the smartest and most creative bunch around.

Every time we turn around, one of them is using Happy Grasshopper in a way that makes us smile. They’re constantly taking the tool we’ve developed and making it their own. And that’s just what we want to see.

Take Kristina Rhodes (well, don’t TAKE her … we like her a lot and want to keep her around), for example.

Kristina is a REALTOR in Evansville, Indiana. She’s been a Happy Grasshopper customer since 2011 and has been using the tool consistently since that time. But recently, we were able to get an inside look at some of the things she’s been doing–and doing to great effect and success.

One of the things that we remind our customers about all the time is that Happy Grasshopper messages are customizable. They’re all set and ready to send as they are, sure, but if you want to edit them to make them even more personal, we say, “GO FOR IT!”

Kristina gets it, and that’s totally what she does.

A few weeks ago, one of the messages in the Happy Grasshopper user queue was about the San Francisco BatKid–you might remember hearing his story on the news. It was about communities rallying, via the Make-A-Wish Foundation, to help make a little boy’s dream come true in a really big way.

Kristina, a huge supporter of Make-A-Wish in her own community, saw the message, but because she was inordinately busy (doubtless following up on all those leads she’s getting from Happy Grasshopper!), she missed sending that message–one that fit her brand message like a glove.

But she took a chance and sent a message to Russell, our customer support god.

“I am a little late sending my message. Last week, there was a message about the Make-A-Wish Bat Kid in San Francisco. Can I get that one? Or, am I too late?”

The message had expired, but Russell took care of Kristina (because that’s what we do at Happy Grasshopper).

“Hi Kristina, sorry we missed your chat during lunch. Don’t worry, we’re here to help. =)

Since this message had expired, you would have been unable to choose it from within your account, but I have uploaded your message as requested. Currently, your message is ready to send and is awaiting your approval.

Please let me know if you need any further help, and have a happy day!”

Kristina was all set and ready to rock, and that’s when she took things to ELEVEN (translation: she added her own brand of super-awesome to her message).

Kristina took the simple message we’d created …

“I’m not a hateful person, but I despise cancer.  Pediatric cancer even more so, which is why I’m sharing this story.

Did you see this?  I think it’s a great example of people pulling together to help a kid pull through a tough time.  It makes me want to do whatever I can to help the people in my life.  Is there anything I can do for you?”

… and made it completely her own.

“I’m not a hateful person, but I despise cancer.  Pediatric cancer even more so, which is why I’m sharing this story.

Did you see this?  I think it’s a great example of people pulling together to help a kid pull through a tough time. This story is a shining example of the impact of a wish.

As many of you know, I am a big supporter of the Make-A-Wish Foundation. Please watch this short video about me and the impact of Make-A-Wish in our local community.  The National Association of Realtors honored me in November as a recipient of the Good Neighbor Award that included a $10,000 gift to further our local mission.

Let me know if you would like to help! And, as always…Is there anything I can do for you?”

See what she did there? She took our message and tied it in seamlessly with her brand promise. That’s exactly the sort of thing we love to see. She made it something that would resonate with the folks in her database, and in the process, started lots of conversations, fostered relationships, and drew attention to a cause she holds close to her heart. That’s what we call DOING IT RIGHT.

And while we’re at it, we’d be remiss if we didn’t send a MAJOR shout-out and lots of kudos to Kristina, who’s recently been honored by the National Association of REALTORS with the Good Neighbor Award–which included a $10,000 gift to further her mission–for her work with Make-A-Wish in her community. Make-A-Wish is something that has changed Kristina’s life and the way she views the world; if you’d like to find out more about it, you can contact her by clicking here.

Kristina Rhodes: starting conversations, building relationships, doing better business. And she IS a Happy Grasshopper.
